Wholistic Worship
Healthy food is in… the junk food is out, but it's still fun! Seems like many are reading the labels and wising up to eating right while others ignore the warnings signs and ruin their bodies with the fad foods.
This competing philosophy carries over into nearly every area of or life. When we worship, sometimes we jump to the fad issues of our own enjoyment or comfort and we create boundary lines and start arguments of culture and preference and all the while miss out on the healthy ingredients of God’s best. In this series, we’ll explore the Psalms as we examine the healthy components of Biblical worship. Some of it will be hard to enjoy, just like when mom made you eat your vegetables. But if you stick with it, you’ll find the health and freedom from being well balanced. September 13 September 20 September 27 October 4 October 11 October 18

"VIBE"
Vibe. Everybody has one. People have it. Businesses have it. Families have it. Churches have it. The word has probably been overused. Magazines, cars, songs all project this image of Vibe. The atmosphere, the feeling, the ambience. The trajectory. The Vibe. But what kind of Vibe does the church project? What’s your personal vibe?
At Sugar Hill Church, we want our Vibe to be “becoming like Jesus.” Nothing more, nothing less. Our process of discipleship centers around 3 words: love, grow, serve. In this series, you will be challenged to confront your personal Vibe to see how you are doing; not compared to the people around you… but compared to Jesus. Beautiful - for women and the men who pursue them.
The fact that our culture makes such a big deal about valuing physical beauty greatly points to the fact that God placed the characteristic of beauty within us. Beauty is every woman’s gift. It is a gift from God, it is her gift to God and it is His gift to the world through her. A woman as God designed her, cannot be understood, appreciated or loved apart from beauty. It is the beauty within her that longs to be longed for and cherished. It transcends the desire to be attractive and pretty no matter how powerful the desire or how suppressed or denied it may be.
Every dad needs to hear it and instill it in his daughters. Every husband needs to hear it and build it into his wife. Every boy needs to understand it and respect the beauty of a girl as a gift from God. Every girl needs to see herself in light of God’s truth. Every woman needs to hear the words from Scripture to know what love, respect, dignity, value and honor are all about. Every mom needs to model it and share it with her daughters. It’s a message of true beauty. God created woman. And when He did, He did so in His image and called her, Beautiful. In this bold series, Beautiful – you’ll hear raw stories from real women who are learning that God made them beautiful. Each week we’ll learn the art of Biblical Beauty and expose the lie of the enemy that robs women of their beauty.

Celebrate Christmas
The reality of the meaning and message of Christmas often times gets lost in the stress and busy-ness of the season. This Christmas Season, Pastor Richard compared the first coming of Christ (Christmas) with the second coming of Christ (it just might be sooner than you think). We examined the reality of the second coming, the end times judgment, and were challenged to tell the story before its too late. Dec 21st was another great day of celebration, telling our story and His story. November 30 - Special Communion Service December 7 December 14 December 21 December 28 |

Simplify
Sugar Hill Church began a new chapter in our church development. We are attempting something a little out of the box as we attempted to reach this region with the love and hope of Jesus Christ. It's a development process for spiritual growth. It's simple, measurable, and easy to communicate. And yet it is not for the faint of heart. It requires work, discipline, growth. It's liberating and yet challenging. It's a journey we are calling:
Simplify= 1+1+1 1—Choose one hour of worship (your style, your venue). 1—Choose one growth group. 1—Choose one place to serve in ministry and missions.
For 3 weeks we talked about our process for discipleship and saw where we were in the journey. It's a paradigm shift but also it's a Biblical realignment as we Simplify. Our prayers are with you as you make the necessary adjustments to Simplify = 1+1+1. It's another way of saying reach up, reach in, and reach out. It's who we are and what we were made to do.

The Politics of Jesus Our nation is consumed with presidential politics. Who is right for our country? Which candidate best reflects our values? Who has the right plan to make the necessary changes for our economy, the environment, homeland security, and domestic and foreign policies? Does any candidate have anything to offer beside the typical rhetoric of the political season? Do any of the candidates have more to offer than merely words of inspiration?
What would happen if Jesus were running for President? Is it possible that the right wing moral majority got it wrong? Did they get anything right? What would Jesus say about our environment? What is the economic plan of Jesus? What does Jesus have to say about homeland security? Domestic and foreign policy? Does Jesus have anything to say to the United States? Is it even about us at all?
August 10: Jesus' environmental and economic policies August 17: Jesus' homeland security initiative August 24: Jesus' platform for Hope and Change August 31: Jesus' domestic and foreign policies

We're Sorry, Really! Sorry! No really...Sorry! Please accept our Apologies... Unfortunately, while "the church" has done many great things throughout history...it has also done some terrible things. Many religious individuals, believing they were right, have been horribly wrong in their approach and communication of sharing who Jesus really is. As a result, most people (in fact over 85% of our community) want nothing to do with church or God - which is understandable! This sermon sheds light on those things that have actually hurt (not helped) people. Not only are we looking into what has been out of line with the love that Jesus is really about...we apologize, REALLY! |

Easter Sunday— March 23 Our 2008 Easter Sermon — Breaking Free, the real Easter Story. Sugar Hill Church is a safe place. You are among real people, people who don't know it all or have it all figured out. We are a diverse people with different backgrounds through economics, politics, and even religion; but we are similar in the fact that we have been prisoners of our past, enslaved in destructive habits. God came to set us free. He has broken the chains and set the captives free. That's what Easter is all about. Breaking Free.
Easter is a special day— it's the day we celebrate the freedom that is found through the love of God and the gift of His Son, Jesus. We have been set free from the prison of our life. Easter is not about a religious holiday or the Easter bunny. Easter is about freedom, fulfillment, and forgiveness.
